Welcome to Africa Marine Services.
Established in 2001, by Jeremy Barrett (ex. Mitsui OSK Lines and UK Pandi Club) and Nick Williams (ex. UKPandi Club and experienced Club correspondent well known for dealing in West Africa ) Africa Marine Services acts as Protection and Indemnity (P&I) correspondents in the main shipping ports of West Africa. Since the company was formed it has rapidly established a reputation for service and reliability and now counts all of the major P&I insurers and some leading H&M underwriters amongst its clients.
What is P&I?
When considering the insurance of a ship, the ship owner has main two areas to think of, physical damage to the ship and its equipment (normally covered by a Hull and Machinery policy) and third party liabilities arising out of the ownership and operation of a vessel. These ship owner's liabilities tend to dealt with by a Protection and Indemnity Association . The P&I insurer (commonly called a P&I Club) arranges mutually funded insurance for its ship owner clients (who, because the insurance is mutual, are called members).
